i use mine in bed but i guess it would be fine on the couch too. Really light weight. perfect height for sitting up in bed and using a laptop. I have a 17 inch and i still have room on the right for the mouse. i love how it folds in half and even has a handle to carry it around.i purchased this to use on my bed following cervical surgery.1. once open, there is no locking mechanism to keep it in the open position. this is a problem if you try to pick up table with items on it or if you bump it from beneath - items slide off to either side.2. the mechanism to lock table once folded into the closed position just swings freely - so no locking is obtained.saving grace - the collapsible legs are stiff enough to retain it in the closed position.I love this table! I bought this for my father in law who has Parkinson’s and dementia. We use it for meals, coffee, and puzzles. It’s the perfect height. The only thing I would recommend is a bar or lock for the middle so it doesn’t fold as easy. It’s light weight and sturdy. It folds up for easy storage.Like title says. Does what it’s supposed to. My particular model has a flaw. It doesn’t quite flattens well when you open. The rivets they use are not properly placed and they misalign the desk. The surface it self is not grippy enough so laptop tends to slide but I use a small silicone mat underneath to find my problem. After a little McGyvering I still kept it since for the price it’s worth it.LOVE IT !!! . I work from home and really needed something like this. Honestly after reading the reviews I thought maybe it would be a very cheaply made product but it’s sturdy enough for my laptop , mouse and drink while working. It’s plenty of leg room ( thigh space) so I can use it while sitting on my couch and while in bed . I love it just wish they had it in blue ?I originally ordered this because I wanted a small portable table I could use on my bed or on my floor. It works but it's not completely flat when you open the table. There is a bit of a bump when it is opened due to the bumpers around the edges of it. It doesn't completely obstruct the table's function but it does cause a bit of annoyance when trying to use a laptop on top of the table.It is a decent little table. The hinge is crooked or damaged, so it doesnt close straight, and the legs are very difficult to fold back up after use, but its alright aside from that.The product was useful for reading in bed.
